My Minor Hockey Experience (Joshua Atkinson, BAHA Alumnus and current professional hockey player)

In the session, Josh would like to share with parents and players and all levels his journey in minor hockey.  He will discuss and share his minor hockey experience that has taught him many lessons today.  He hopes to share his story and discuss ideas with parent and players on how to improve player development and the overall minor hockey experience.  His goal in this session is to share his path and the many paths to developing into a better player.

 

 

Improving the Minor Hockey Experience  (Joshua Atkinson, BAHA Alumnus and current professional hockey player)

In this presentation, Josh will share his ideas/personal experiences in how to better allow players to learn and improve their game from lessons on his journey through hockey. "My goal is to help as many young players get the opportunity to live their dream as I am still trying to do. But it is also for the organization, coaches, and parents to learn some ways to support and provide the players with opportunities to continuously develop." 

 

Delivering Efficient Practices (Mike McGinnis- Hockey Alberta Regional Manager)

This presentation will focus on utilizing practice time efficiently while keeping player development at the forefront. We will introduce a tool that can objectively measure what is being accomplished in your practice and also discuss trends that have been observed across the province. Coaches are always on the hunt for great drills, we will explore various resources that are sure to help keep practice fresh and exciting.

Joshua Atkinson Bio- Played minor hockey in Beaumont until Bantam. Most recently finished 2018/2019 hockey season with the Chicago Wolves losing in the Calder Cup finals. Two years ago attended main camp with the Boston Bruins and has played in the ECHL and AHL over the course of the time in between. Growing up in minor hockey he only once played triple A and that was his final year of midget. the two prior years in midget he played house level hockey, and from Bantam to Atom played AA.
